@seaghn The 80s ladas were pretty well made (for 80s standards), all the panels are sheet metal and the frame was very sturdy. If someone updates it with modern safety features( airbag etc), it would probably be safer than BMP-1.

@seaghn I still remember when that model came out, when I was growing up. -sigh- I thought it was awesome. I wish I had one now. The design is very simple and easy to work on, my 8 yo niece can repair anything in there. Segway has more parts than good old lada.
