The Coronation Scott 1937
magnificent old footage of The Coronation being readied for it's publicity pictures and it's record breaking company publicity run - 114 MPH on it's run to Crewe Staion from London.
A London Midland Scottish (LMS) Locomotive, it was inaugerated to mark the Coronation of King George in 1937 and was designed for long distance fast passenger traffic between London and Glasgow.
With their Air Smoothed casing they looked every inch the thoroughbred as they raced north for six and a half hours.
