    • @goervideos Yes, but the battles were not only against the 4500 french, there were sudanese, indian, new zealand and british units in defensive emplacemnet around that french fortress. Rommel was also attacked by Armored formations coming from the North of Bir Hacheim.

    • @Panzerknacker2 12+ different units (that is why i wrote any in particular, and the correct number seems 3723 and 99 dead), but apparently seeing French in there for you is a detail, they was alone most of the time and out of water, even Churchill had nice words.

      And just for the record i wore on one of my uniform the citation of this battle (to the order of my regiment), and i just realize at some moment my grandad was in the 1st company of genius in ww2.

  • It was the D Troop of 43 Battery of 11 City of London Yeomanry Regt RA (TA). It was commanded by Lt Beauchamp.
