Nowadays it is such a painful affair to go to any store. Almost all the clothes, toys, electronics etc are made in far East by poorly paid women, girls and boys in unhealthy, dangerous, exhausting circumstances none of us wouldn't work for a single day. And we buy them. Some have a sad mind for a minute, some don't think about it at all. And some leave the stuff on the shelves and wonder where they could get fair trade jogging shoes, or perhaps one should learn to walk bare footed instead.

  • While we may have pity for the disadvantaged workers slaving over material goods manufacturing in eastern countries, at least one result of our materialism is that these people have jobs they wouldn't have had. So let's hope that life improves for them and that they are still able to keep their jobs.

  • I am headed to Wendy's in a little while. After that I might stop by Walmart and buy up $40 worth in the $1 section then just throw it in a fire pit. Americans consistently help other countries. Both in government and in private donations. Take your guilt trip elsewhere.
