Obama's $25,000 per plate fundraiser at Dell Computer OUTSOURCER Tom Meredith's house shows hideous, blatant hypocrisy

A "ruthless" outsourcer and Obama party the day away, further cementing the fantasy in Liberal land that this president isn't a corporate shill.....After giving a speech in Austin, Texas in which he decried Mitt Romney for overseeing companies that outsourced jobs, President Obama attended a fundraiser hosted by Tom Meredith, a former Dell executive who once oversaw outsourcing at his own company — and said he would be "ruthless" about cutting costs.

In 2001, while serving as senior vice president of Dell Computer Corp, Meredith defended plans to lay off between 3,000 and 4,000 employees — largely in Texas — while sparing about 4,000 jobs in Asia Pacific. When that strategy was reported by the tech press at the time Meredith defended the move.

"We will be ruthless in how we address our cost structure," Meredith said, a comment that drew wide attention at the time.

Obama has harshly criticized Romney for investing in companies that shipped jobs overseas, and said just Wednesday that he wants "to be a pioneer in in-sourcing."

The fundraiser at Meredith's Four Seasons penthouse cost couples as much as $25,000 to attend, according to the Boston Herald.

    • @AxisofEvil I understand, but the GOP doesn't rag on the concept of outsourcing, then rub elbows with "ruthless" outsource guys for $25,000 per plate , while also appointing them (GE's Jeff Immelt) to head his Jobs Council. The issue here is criticisms of outsourcing and blatant, comical hypocrisy.

    • @yorba no sir they lie to our faces and tell us its in our best interests. not any better in my book, it still compromises everything from our social fabric to our national security while personally profiting the politicians. we must agree, neither party has clean hands, not even close....

You are right to an extent but I also agree with Monkeyfukker....both parties are just dividing us up only to profit the most. They don;t give a damn about us. I want to go back into business but I wont even think about till the fukking state I live in makes it possible. How are small businesses supposed to survive? Taxes alone can wipe up a business in it sfirst yr, then add rent , higher utlitiy bills for businesses....its ridiculous! America and every state should implement some More..

Dell monitors are also highly sought after by professional types(I've sold a lot online to them, I'd know), not to mention Dell servers are VERY popular

  • Just because he's a Former VP Exec doesn't mean he represents Dell. He doesn't work there anymore, he doesn't represent Dell. As much as outsourcing sucks, government is to blame for that... increasing corporate tax and the United States is the country that is highest taxed in the world... this article is pointless.

    • @monkey fcker ....wrong.

In 2001, After heavy lobbying by Dell, Congress passed 'American Jobs Creation Act', this act lets American companies "repatriate" overseas profits at a one-time tax rate of 5.25%, rather than the normal 35%. The company brought back an extra $4 billion because of this tax break! I just sunk your battleship....

DING DING DING. And $500,000+ of that profit went to the Republican GOP, since Dell's wife donates gobs of their money to the republican party.

  • Taking sh^t out of context as usual... here is where the article links to, which says NOTHING AT ALL about this guy doing layoffs or talking about it being "ruthless"

Here is the only talk about it, and the exact quote:

"We will be ruthless about how we adjust our cost structure going forward," Meredith said.

Asked whether that statement meant more layoffs are on deck, Meredith said the company "won't comment on rumors." Although Meredith didn't rule out addition More..
