I'd do a video but I dont have the means.
An old lady neighbor called me the other day. She thinks Im her friends grandson and I work for the cable company. Not me, but I play allong, its easier this way. She cant get the TV to work. I figure out what is broken while my 2 year old son sits happily munching on a cookie. Afterward she wants to pay me something for my trouble, I decline. She is insistant so I accept $5 and say I'll get my boy something with it. This was Friday.
Saturday my son and my 2 dogs went to the river to play. I was walking back to the car and picked my son up to cross a narrow ledge and I slipped and we rolled down across a bunch of granite rocks piled up under a bridge. I fell about 10 feet with my son in my arms. When I stood up one of my dogs was nowhere to be seen. I was pretty messed up, bleeding from my arms and legs. My son didn't have a scratch on him. (other than the ones he allready had)
So I have one dog, a toddler, Im injured and a missing dog. (little dachshound 2 years old not very river expierienced. -aka the wifes dog) I search for about 30 minutes and cant continue with my son or I'll loose HIM. So I go to a friend and they watch my son and my buddy comes back with me to look for the dog. We have no luck. Its a peninsula where she went missing so we know shes there somewhere. luckily there is a homeless couple camping out there and they vow to keep a look out for her. I give them my number and go home as I cant really keep going. I have by now realized I have a broken or bruised rib cage.
Time to face the music and tell my wife that her dog is missing at the river and I have exhausted my energy to keep searching. As any dog lover she has to go and look herself. So I draw her a detailed map of the area because its the only way she'll even get close. Her and her mon go out.
They find her under the granite rocks I fell down inside a deep crevice. Being scared she didnt make a sound until my wife called for her. My friend & I both looked in there numerous times. Along comes David & Rose the homeless people camping out there. David climbs into this deep hole and plucks her out. I tell my wife on the phone to give them $20 - $50 whatever they had. Dave & Rose hadn't asked for anything and declined the money. We insisted. They accepted.
So 3 hours under a granite mound in the 100+ degree heat and the dogs fine, the other dogs fine. My little boy is oblivious to what has been going on because somehow I have kept him from injury and my composure to keep him calm when I am screaming inside. Every one gets home safe.
You might call this an unfortunate day... I call it a bad day with good Karma.
So go help that old lady figure out her TV or whatever... Give a homeless person some respect if anything. There are good people in bad situations.
Happy Fathers day everyone!
