On Friday, April 20, 2012, a dog was tied to the trunk of a Hyundai Equus and dragged to death on the Gyeongbuk expressway in Seoul, South Korea. The dog’s organs were showing by the time the car had come to a stop.
In the afternoon, an eye witness sent video footage and a picture of the license plate to CARE. CARE brought this evidence to the Seocho Police Department and filed official charges.
Due to public outrage, the police were forced to launch an investigation and contact the man responsible.
When contacted, the driver insisted he put the dog in the trunk in order to keep the interior of his car clean. He said he kept the trunk open to give the dog air. Supposedly, the dog fell out by accident. In addition, the man claims he had been drinking and hired a driving service to drive the car for him. He is innocent, he claimed.
Seocho Police Department immediately dropped all charges, claiming there was “no intent to cause harm.”
