Two cops tackled and forcefully arrested a young man as he was leaving a bar with 3 female friends - one of whom was a designated driver. The women protested his arrest, noting that they were leaving and going home, but the police took him into custody and threatened to do the same to the women if they didn't go home.
The young man had done nothing that warranted a forceful arrest. He was well out of the bar (which was located near the vehicle lights in the background) and he and his friends were walking alone in the dark alley towards their vehicle by the time the officers started racing towards them. The officers did not bother to identify themselves as police despite the darkness, nor did they activate any sirens or lights. Instead, they ran towards the departing people and yelled at them to stop (they did) and inexplicably tackled the young man, placed him in a chokehold and threw him to the ground- with enough force to dislocate his left arm at the shoulder.
He was left with an arm in a sling for several days, a bruised shoulder, bruised face, and a light bruise in the shape of a boot mark in his back. The police are pressing charges on him for allegedly swinging at an officer- presumably to justify his forceful arrest. However, there are three witnesses and video footage which can verify that he did no such thing.
