Medical check-up to catch Lahore’s fake transvestites
The government in Pakistan’s Punjab province has decided to conduct medical examinations of transvestites registered with the government after reports surfaced that impostors are getting themselves registered with the social welfare department to receive the financial assistance reserved for transvestites.
Official sources in Lahore say that transvestites had some misgivings regarding registration, which made them hesitant to approach the government.
An official said the registration aimed at providing financial assistance between Rs5,000 and Rs10,000 from the Baitul Maal to transvestites.
