The decomposing body of a dead nun has been found in a toolshed on the property of a Buddhist temple, authorities said Friday.
The body was believed to be that of a 41-year old nun who went missing in May, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Amormino said a worker at the Tu Quang temple in the unincorporated Orange County community of Midway City found the body in a shed on the property Thursday afternoon.
He said the cause of death was not immediately clear and the results of an autopsy were inconclusive. The body showed no obvious signs of trauma, Amormino said.
No one from the worship center filed a missing persons report for the woman. "They believed that she just left, but her personal belongings were still at the temple," Amormino told the Orange County Register.
The members of the worship center said no one had entered the shed since May, Amormino said.
The woman's name has not been released pending notification of her family.
