my country is taking a lot of heat from tree hugging americans over development of our oilsands in alberta because of the pollution it causes which is nothing compared to the pollution produced by the americans biggest trading partner china, who will gladly buy our oil if the states decides to turn us down and continue supporting their terrorist "friends" in saudi arabia

      Thats a pipe dream. Any idea how many every day things we use that is made from petroleum? Its abundant, we get cleaner with less emissions every year.

      Spin it as you want, the fact is that one day it's going to end, and it's going to end sooner where it is the most extracted.

      And we may have more efficient cars, so less emissions per gallon indeed, but we also have more cars at the same time...

      I agree that it will end at some time, but its just as much of a spin to say or act like it will be in our, or even our childrens lifetime when oil "runs out".I am not against renewable energy and I think that while we are using fossil fuels we should work on and expand alternative energy sources.

  • Tar sands are not anywhere near an alternative to oil. Oil needs to be completely done away with, but we don't need to be destroying some of the few natural areas in the planet we basically have left. Who gives a shit about ethics, it's a matter of taking way too much from the world.
