Paraglider rescued after hanging for ten hours from powerline

Raw video,January 19/09,Colombia:Rescue workers in northwestern Colombia saved the life of a paraglider on Monday after he got caught up in high tension lines in bad weather.

Alberto Ocampo was suspended from the power lines, 350 metres (1,148 feet) above the town of Bello for 10 hours while rescuers worked to save him.

Dozens of firemen and rescue workers took part in the operation to free the 49-year-old.

Employees of Medellin's electrical company were also sent to help with the rescue.

Ocampo was finally winched down after an employee of Medellin's electrical company managed to release him from the cables.

"This is the most important work I have ever done, saving someone's life, and thanks to God I could rescue him," said Juan Guillermo Guarin, after climbing the power lines to rescue Ocampo.

Once on the ground a relieved Ocampo admitted to being "a little bit imprudent" in taking off in such poor weather.
