@Anonyville Depending on what industry, you're correct. There's never been pure capitalism prior to the 19th century in the U.S. I disagree, however, that permits and licensing issues are related to protecting corporations. They're just another way for government to tax the people.

@Templeton After the last Great Depression people would bootstrap to make a living. Doing whatever they could do to get by. IE a woman running a restaurant out of her own kitchen. Today thanks to zoning laws, business licenses, etc. that would be impossible. I believe 100% that is exactly why these laws were made and if you look back at who sponsored them you would realize as I have what they were for.
