Shoots Fired At Woman’s Vehicle Who Tried To Flee After Running Man Over

Austin police are investigating an officer involved shooting that took place just after 2:20 a.m., Saturday. Police say a driver allegedly hit two pedestrians and then drove towards a police officer on 6th street. The officer fired several shots at the driver's windshield. The driver was not struck. Police say the 24 year old woman stopped her car following the shots, got out of the vehicle and was arrested.

"Rather than stopping the vehicle, the suspect continued westbound and actually turned toward the officer. At that moment the officer, fearing for his own personal safety and life and the safety and lives of the other pedestrians, fired several shots. The shots struck the suspect vehicle in the windshield area," said Chief Art Acevedo with Austin Police Department.
