Vietnam: A Festering Conflict
I hope we remember this conflict not as a government foreign policy mistake, but as a mistake we as a country attributed to. I am talking about the mistake of treating our brave soldiers with indignity and disrespect. I hope we learn from that so that we may never repeat it again. "ungrateful Nation", wow, Just because people didnt agree with a war that consisted mostly of bombing, shooting, and murdering 4 million civilians, and torturing and raping much more. Many a good man fought in Nam, but many a bad man did too. Just because I believe in the sanctity of life does not mean I don't admire the bravery shown so often by the American soldier, I do, and greive for all the dead and their families, as much as I grieve for the sensless slaughter of so many innocents, babies with skin hanging off them, whole villages napalmed off the map. You dont blame the pawns when the king is at fault.

Just like always the only images that stick in peoples heads are the bad things. Just like in afghanistan millions of people are safer than ever before. I know 3 Afghan brothers and they thank every day the coalition stops the Taliban ruining their families town.

We gave modernity to every nation we took over. We never commited genocide or anything of the sort. If it was not for us countries like India, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Austrailia, America etc etc would all have been left in the dark. until they found their own initative. Go anywhere where the empire stood and see the gratitude they had for us. Iran has plenty of statues in memory of our empire. Archetecture, electricity, etc etc all came first from a British man in those countries.
Australia should have been a colloseum for all you convicts to battle it out. and eventually die off. except for the brave boys in Afghan. and mel gibson--because he dont give a fook.
