If Chavez keeps Martinez in the center of the ring and only takes it to the ropes when Chavez wants to, he takes this fight. But he's not very good at that, Chavez gets anxious and his breathing along with rhythm get all wacked out.
Martinez on the other hand does not block, he drops his hands and bobs & weaves throughout middle-late rounds and Chavez's punches will hurt if he ain't ready. Martinez is going to have to stay away from the ropes completely and push Chavez to exchange on the in More..

@Loomfries I think Martinez is going to run circles around him. Chavez just hasn't fought anyone like Sergio or even anyone close to him and martinez is seasoned at this point. Sergio can stand there and slug it out if he chooses to like he did with Paul Williams. I think its semi competitive in the first couple of rounds but I think martinez is going to use his endurance and KO chavez later. He's got a good chin but it's never been tested by an elite hard puncher.

This will definitely be Chavez's first real test as a Champ. Remember, Martinez was easily knocked down by Paul Williams in their first fight, Kelly Pavlik, and of course Margarito quite easy. Not saying this will happen, but Chavez's haymakers cannot be underestimated.

@Loomfries No definitely not, but Martinez has stood in the line of fire. Pavliks hands are no joke and he took some good punches and Paul Williams was a beast and slugged it out with him. It should be a good fight. Remember though the only reason why Chavez is champ is because they stripped Martinez of one of his belts.

Originally, I had no dog in this fight until I found out that after one of Chavez Jr.'s fights, he wasn't given a drug test. When boxing officials were asked why, they said that they forgot. Remember what happened between Chavez Sr. vs. Whitaker? Unless Martinez knocks Chavez Jr. out cold, he will not win. But I sure as hell hope he does. Also: GO PACQUIAO!!!
