NBC's Cris Collinsworth caught on immediately, saying that Sanders had "an injury ... of sorts. ... All I know is, Emmanuel Sanders was in the huddle, he's not looking like he's in too much pain now, and then, 'Oh, boy — here comes the cramp!' He goes down, and they don't have to burn the timeout. That is a savvy play, let's call it that, on the part of the Pittsburgh Steelers." One play later, Sanders -- miracle of miracles! — was able to return to the field.
This is to the American Liveleakers who keep saying faking injuries is only pulled out in European football. It seems that faking injuries to stop the clock is a fairly frequent occurrence in the NFL.

No, not fairly common. Fairly rare and frowned upon.

the reason they do this is the same reason the Steelers have only one decal on their helmet and the same reason that the football (soccer) players dive , Money

Cramps really happen though. In soccer you see players reacting to nonexistent contact with their opponents. It's another order of magnitude on the pussy scale.

Skeletal Muscle Cramp..It happens. You get them when you aren't using the muscles at the time. It's the relaxing of the muscle that causes it. Look up Skeletal muscle cramps. The NFL comes down hard on fake injuries. Often resulting in fines and suspensions for the player and the coaches.
