I would bet there are many more infected cow being consumed for food. Notice the cow was not used for food but allowed to live long enough to show symptoms. The problem is, what happens to cow if it is slaughtered before symptoms show up? We eat it, thats what.

@buttkracken It take three to four years before the cow shows signs it has BSE.Many male cattle are slaughtered for meat well before this age.
