On May 2, 2014, in Odessa a day of clashes between pro- and anti-Kiev government protesters ended with a tragedy of over 40 dead people inside and around the Trade Union Building, after it was attacked by pro-Kiev government forces who first destroyed the anti-Kiev protest camp outside the building and then set it on fire with a swarm of molotov cocktails. Several people jumped out of the windows, some of them got further injured or even killed by their opponents after hitting the ground, and many were burned alive inside the building.
