Gov. Brewer Releases Executive Order on SB1070

June 12th 2012

With a decision anticipated by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the SB 1070 case, Gov. Jan Brewer issued an executive order stressing law-enforcement training in enforcing the law.

Brewer just released the executive order on SB1070, the controversial law signed by Brewer in April 2010, making it the broadest and strictest anti-illegal immigration measure in recent U.S. history.

Part of the executive order reads, "Senate Bill 1070 provides that the immigration enforcement by police agencies shall be implemented in a manner consistent with federal laws regulating immigration."

It also prohibits a law enforcement official from solely considering race, color, or national origin in implementing SB1070.

The Supreme Court heard arguments in April on SB1070 and are expected to reach a decision later this month.
