Safe Mode: On
EU President Van Rompuy would oblige EU countries to reform pensions

European President Herman Van Rompuy wants all European Union countries to reform their pension systems.

Interesting: there must be a liability and no obligation proposal to Member States. He says
in an interview with German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

The pensions should better take the rising life expectancy into account.

Read: As we grow older, we shall still have to work longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"We can make recommendations to the Union as a whole, such as by highlighting the
relationship between the age at which people retire and life expectancy,"
the European president. "We can all 27 Member States committed to their
pension system within a certain time to reform a compliant manner with a clear
objective."

But Van Rompuy believes that these are essential not only to propose, then everyone
does what he wants. "It is better to be on a mandatory manner."

The Belgian said that there gonna be something on the table at the next EU summit on 28 and 29 June in Brussels. The next few months could then be further negotiated, according to Van Rompuy.
