Toll Rises From Twin Suicide Bombing at Iranian Mosque, Clinton Issues Condemnation

The toll in a twin suicide bombing at an Iranian mosque in the southern city of Zahedan rose to 26 dead and 300 wounded, including members of the powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps. The Sunni Muslim militant group Jundallah claimed responsibility for the attack, in which one of the bombers was wore women's clothes.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the attack and said that the "United States extends its sympathy to the families and loved ones of those injured and killed. We also call for the perpetrators of this horrific attack to be held accountable for their actions."



MP resigns after Zahedan terror attack

Zahedan representative in the Majlis Hossein-Ali Shahriari tendered his resignation following the terrorist attack on the Zahedan Grand Mosque. In his letter addressed to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, he said he was resigning for the inability of authorities to maintain security in his constituency.

Top IRGC Official Blames West and Israel for Zahedan Blasts

Yadollah Javani, the head of IRGC's political bureau said late Thursday that it had implicated "the US, Israel and some European countries" in the deadly blasts in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan.

"The enemy seeks out division between Shia and Sunni Muslims in order to create chaos in the country," Javani noted. "One could not doubt the involvement of secret foreign services in the efforts to generate tension amongst Muslims," he further explained.
