KABUL: Taliban on Friday rejected UNAMA's report attributing 80
percent killings to anti-government armed groups and said the report
kept mum over the massive killings of civilians by the foreign forces. In
a statement, Taliban said the UNAMA report was baseless as it did not
report the massive killings of civilians and causing them losses of life
and property by foreign forces. In the statement, Taliban
reported 25 incidents in which Afghan and foreign forces inflicted
casualties to civilians during the past six months in Afghanistan. Taliban
also recalled an incident in which French troops killed eight children
in Kapisa province in February this year and killed 18 participants of a
wedding in Barak-e-Barak district of Logar province in June.Quoting
a government delegation, the Taliban statement said that foreign forces
also killed nine civilians during an operation in eastern Kunar
province. It said people supporting, providing protection and paving way to foreign forces are considered civilians.

Accusing
UNAMA of being partial, Taliban said, "The UNAMA attempted to identify
occupational forces as restorer of security and Taliban as the cause of
fighting and insecurity in Afghanistan. However, realities show
something different to the world. The United Nations has been trying for
the last 10 years to cover the anti-human acts of the real causes of
ongoing war and give a legal cover to their crimes."Urging UNAMA
to unveil facts Taliban said, "The Afghan Islamic Emirate hoped that
United Nations, especially UNAMA, would not sacrifice their status for
the interests of United States. The statement said that Taliban gave full attention to protecting civilian

"Islamic
Emirate gives serious attention to the life of their people. Our
ongoing resistance is aimed at protecting the life, honour and property
of the people," it said.A report released by UNAMA in Kabul two
days ago suggested that more than 3000 civilians were killed in the
first six months of the current year in Afghanistan. The report also
attributed nearly 80 percent civilian deaths to anti-government armed
groups.Taliban had also rejected such reports in the past and said that they were ready to cooperate with UNAMA in filing such report.
