Diavik Diamond Mine in Northern Canada

Diamond mining in the Northwest Terretories of Canada. This particular mine was constructed in a lake, after building a dyke around the mining area and pumping out the water. Estimates reserves of 95 million carats (29.8 million tonnes of diamond ore at 3.2 carats/tonne).
