  • metaphors are not lies, nor are they historical truths. religions, when used as a premise to bully people or force beliefs systems on people through violence should be rejected and do not deserve respect. if your gods telling you to murder none believers, in your head or through a book, its time to reevaluate your theological path. that said there are universal truths that can be culled from all the worlds religions, when you read them as myth, not fact.

    Tyson is right to distinguish himself in this way, he follows the scientific method as a scientist and educator and his faith in God or lack of faith is not relevant. I have a dislike for organized religion and would "embrace the evidence if its there" - just as Tyson noted.
