  • More following distance would have helped, but I got the impression that the dashcam driver was preparing to overtake when safe, therefore less cushion. Speeds were very fast for the road type. Divided highways are much safer!

Once the collision happened, there was nothing to do but stand on the brake, or swerve into oncoming traffic.

  • Yeah, let's drive 90 mph on a shi**y road while tailgating.

  • Numerous driving mistakes were made in this video:
    1. All drivers were overspeeding. They appear to be driving in motorway speeds, in the absence of an actual motorway.
    2. In choosing to pretend that this is a motorway, noone was wise enough to at least utilise the emergency lane, in order both to facilitate overtake by faster drivers and to stay as far away from the dangerous middle zone in case of a collision.
    3. The idiot who caused the collision must have been inebriated. Firstly, there was More..

  • Damn that was nasty.

Just an idea but maybe going 80 Mph/135 Kph on a two lane road isn't a good idea. Russia's roads today are not unlike the USA in the 50-60's but with much much much safer cars.

    • The two second rule is just a guideline that gets tossed out to the masses, it works pretty good when you're casually going from point A to B. I know this is going to sound dead obvious, but you really need to consider what would happen if a vehicle in front of you stopped instantly. Do you have enough of a gap to stop before impacting? The two second rule is not nearly enough at this kind of speed - more like 6 to 8 seconds.

On this road surface, this terrain, at this speed, only the terminal More..

  • Why anyone would own a Honda Fit is beyond me. A Red Flyer sled offers better impact protection.
