Rock & Rule

THE BEAUTY... THE BEAST... THE BEAT

A classic cartoon I recall watching as a kid on TV. I don't understand why this didn't get more attention than it did, it's epic, in a "Heavy Metal" sort of way! If you want to see the whole thing, it's posted on youtube in 8 parts.

  • It was cool. But nowhere near the caliber of Heavy Metal.
No bigtties flopping around, alien & robotic love stories. Murderous rampaging creatures & mutated humans, no bit titties, & oh yeah, them wondrous mellons :@)

  • I've seen this many times and can't find it anywhere. It is pretty cool! I think it was Debbie Harry that did the singing of the girl character in this.

  • Great post! I really LOVE this film, and it was very poorly marketed by the distributor. Available on special edition DVD now which I cannot recommend too highly for anyone who loves great animation and really butt-kicking music. Much of it can be seen on Youtube too.

  • What strikes me about this movie is that the interdimentional portal aspect of it corresponds to what the conspiracy theorists are saying. Call it "Masonic" or "Satanic" or whatever. Ralph Bakshis movies are a little bit like that. Well, a few of them anyway. My favourite joke from the movie is when the girl says "shoot yourself" instead of "suit yourself" because the guy was being an asshole, with the intonation of the latter as per the context. • I'm a little late to the party here heh. Yeah Great movie. Very underrated.

Bit O trivia. Rock and Rule was the first fully animated movie made wholly in Canada.

I have two copies of this. First is the theatrical release. Second copy is a studio copy with alternate voice actors. Which aren't as good, but it's interesting to have as a collector. It also came with a short cartoon called "The Devil and Daniel mouse". I got it from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. Or s More..
