Retro TV Magnum p.i.

Magnum ran from 1980 to 1988, eight seasons with 162 episodes. A jewel in the careers of Glen A Larson and Donald P. Bellisario. One of the highest rated shows of its day, second only to the Cosby Show.
My favorite part of this series was the fact that Magnum or Higgins would break the fourth wall, often times acknowledging the presence of a camera and the audience. The producers also accomplished this by having Magnum narrate each episode.
Bit of trivia. Orson Wells was slated to be revealed as Robin Masters, but he passed away before the end of the show. Also, Tom Selleck was supped to play the role of Indiana Jones but he was still under contract for Magnum and productions schedules prevented him from taking the role. Ironically there was a writers strike and it turned out he could have taken the role, but Harrison Ford had already been cast by then.
Yep that's a young Peter Billingsley as Messy Marvin in the Hershey's commercial, better known as Ralphie from "A Christmas Story".

He was sort of hired muscle. A syndicalist existence. It was mutually beneficial for Robin Masters to have him there.

Back when TV shows were good; unlike today, and don't even get me going on History/Discovery/Science channel's fascinations with Cajun fishing in the bayou, swamp aborigines and pawn shops.
Also liked the French's commercial; I'm not sure how you find those gems RTT, I can understand the shows, but the advertisements are not something you can buy on a DVD (maybe there's a product you could create from that.)
Thanks again for another good upload.

Source material comes from many places. I have several hundred VHS and BETA tapes from my dad. I trade with retro enthusiasts. I contribute to places like Internet Archive and draw quite a bit of material from places like it.

Then there are always other video hosting sites. There's a lot of garbage, videos that have been ruined by low quality ripping from users who don't know what they're doing, people are also fond of putting watermarks all over retro vids. More..

The Magnum character was first born on Rockford Files...Lance White, who drove around in a "parade float" white convertible Eldorado. Had his gun sitting on a piece of mink carpeting in the glove compartment and it would drop down when he hit the brakes really hard, like today's airbags. He saved everyone's life at one point or another. The perfect counterpoint to the hard luck Jim Rockford. The cops loved him while they hated Rockford, etc. etc. I guess Stephen J. Cannell wrote b More..
