@SharkGuy Either through a report from the public or intelligence. A year ago when they were tracking Mark Duggan they knew he had a gun, and when they stopped the car he was in they shot him dead straight away. When armed officers from SO19 move in they don't mess around. Usually there's at least 6 of them - often more. These are the guys I'm talking about:

That's sad man. I was watching some uk cops show and I did notice that they called them elite squad or something like that. What I'm getting at is that not all the cops carry weapons. Didn't. Know that. And surprised me. Is it that safe?? I am really lost on the fact that not all there cops carry side arms. Any one havesn explanation?

@ZombieNinjaJudo Most police in the UK don't carry guns. The exceptions are at airports, N. Ireland and specially trained firearms officers (though this last group only carry them in sealed boxes in their cars & have to have permission from a commander to deploy them).

I understand that....but these are different times. This incident aside, the biggest threat to the UK right now is Islamic radicals. Your cops need to be armed not only to defend themselves, but also innocent people.
The UK just need to realize that times have changed and it is not right to put cops in harms way without a proper means of defense.
