Santiago, Dominican Republic, Oct 23 (EFE).- A man died Wednesday after being shot twice in the head during protests in the northern Dominican Republic, bringing to four the number of fatalities during the clashes.
The latest person to lose his life is Wilson Daniel Camilo Esca├▒o, who was shot in the municipality of San Francisco de Macoris, the scene on Tuesday of the confrontations.
His death comes after three other people died in the disturbances in the Ciruelitos and Navarrete sector in Santiago province.
Five people have been injured in the clashes and dozens arrested.
The families of the victims and grassroots groups are blaming the National Police for the deaths that have occurred during the protests, but the police have said only that they are investigating the incidents.
The protests were convened for 48 hours to pressure authorities to respond to a list of demands including building highways, aqueducts and sewage systems.
