There has been a deadly parcel bomb attack in a building where French President Nicolas Sarkozy's old law firm is located.
A female secretary was killed in the blast in central Paris. Five people were injured. One of them, a lawyer whom officials said the package was addressed to, is in a serious condition.
Paris Public Prosecutor Jean-Claude Marin told reporters that two devices were delivered in the same parcel which exploded when it was opened.
He said the blast had no link to President Sarkozy, a former lawyer, whose old practice is on a different floor to the company that was targeted.
French Interior Minister Michele Aliot Marie said the attack was apparently aimed at someone from this firm.
The motives remain unclear. The practice specialises in civil and commercial work rather than criminal cases.
The offices of a Holocaust Memorial foundation are on the same floor.
