I used to manage a shop a few years ago when an American came in and said, "Hey, do you have flip flops?", I said "Flip what?", he said those things you put on yur feet?", I said Oh, you lookin` for thongs?" He looked at me stupid and said, "No I dont want to wear them on my ass, on my feet!", after i said thats what we call them, he bought 2 pair.
