A Cedar Hill High School teacher has resigned after she admitted sharing an inappropriate hug with a student, district officials say.
An internal investigation proved that nothing more happened between the English teacher and an 18-year-old male student, said Kim Lewis, a Cedar Hill ISD spokesman.
"Both the boy and the teacher independently and at different times acknowledged that there was nothing more than a hug," said Lewis, who would not name the teacher because of privacy concerns.
The teacher was the first to come forward about the hug when she offered her resignation about two weeks ago. Lewis said that though it was only a hug, both the student and teacher "realized the hug was taken to be more than just a hug between a teacher and a student."
Substitute teachers will take over the teacher’s English classes until a full-time replacement can be found.
Because the teacher's resignation was accepted, she can retain her certification and move to another school district.
