from a Midlands Today TV News film clip, a disused tunnel system and underground complex 100 ft below Birmingham's City Centre built to withstand an atomic bomb but (it) was hopelessly outdated before construction had even finished. it was abandoned and mothballed not long afterwards, they (Birmingham City Council) are currently looking for a buyer to take it off their hands!
apparently there's offers from Archive Storage companies, wine storage and even Mushroom farming!

I hope they didn't abandon this too soon. I served in the military and I always laughed when they started talking about "survivability" of a full nuclear exchange. Personally. I would prefer to be directly under the first detonation. The world after such a conflagration would be completely unrecognizable environmentally and socially.

@Muscledoctor Someone did actually do a big grow in these tunnels ,not sure if it was this exact one cos there are many, but someone tried to do one and got busted cos the smell was leaking out to the street above! and even funnier was that the place where the smell came out above ground was birmingham courthouse haha i wish someone had a vid of that news clip .
