On 12:01 p.m. on September 16, 1920, a wagon passed by lunchtime crowds on Wall Street in New York City across the street from the headquarters of the J.P. Morgan bank on Wall Street.
A 100 pounds of dynamite with 500 pounds of heavy, cast-iron sash weights exploded with a timer-set detonation with shrapnel tearing through the air and people nearby.
38 victims died within moments of the blast. These individuals were mostly young and worked as messengers, stenographers, clerks and brokers. The blast caused over $2 million in property damage and wrecked most of the interior spaces of the Morgan building.
The first REAL car bombs were applied by a splinter group of the newly formed state of Israel against the British.
On January 12, 1947 the Stern Gang drove a truckload of explosives into a British police station in Haifa, Palestine, killing 4 and injuring 140.
Irael would soon use truck and car bombs to kill Palestinians as well: a creative atrocity immediately reciprocated by British deserters fighting on the side of Palestinian nationalists. Israel Utilized the car bomb method several times before Arabs reciprocated the brutal method that kills nearby innocents.
