As more details leak out about the investigation on Kim Dotcom, the more embarrassing it gets for government officials. After thinking Dotcom had a doomsday device, it’s now known that New Zealand government spies illegally bugged Dotcom at the behest of the US government.
As ridiculous as Dotcom’s life may be, it seems like the government was treating and investigating the man like he was Pablo Escobar. Today, New Zealand Prime Minister John Key announced an inquiry by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security on the illegal tapping of Kim Dotcom by the Government Communications Security Bureau (an intelligence agency in New Zealand like the CIA in the US). The GCSB is forbidden to “conduct surveillance on New Zealand citizens or permanent residents in the country”. The GCSB, of course, ignored that and bugged Dotcom.
What’s even more interesting is that the Prime Minister John Key is in charge of the GCSB and with many people so involved in the Kim Dotcom case, Key is either completely inept at his job or complicit in breaking the law to spy on Kim Dotcom. Here’s Dotcom, talking about the situation, as only he can:
“I’m now a real life James Bond villain in a real life political copyright thriller scripted by Hollywood & the White House. I welcome the inquiry by [the Prime Minister] into unlawful acts by the GCSB. Please extend the inquiry to cover the entire Crown Law Mega case.”
Can’t wait to hear what ridiculousness is next.

Key is a US puppet and a coward, he will blame someone else of course even though he's in charge of the GCSB.

The joke just keeps getting better and better.
Mixing up US date formats with NZ date formats in official records, constant lies upon lies, who is the real criminal here. This whole thing is just a fucking joke.
I have lots of 3d and imaging work stored on megaupload I have lost.
Can we file a class action law suit and sue the FBI, MPAA, RIAA for stealing our files?

@sungam
if you are prepared for a long battle then you probably could find a lawyer willing to raise that action as there were a lot of innocent people who lost personal files in this raid. Fucking disgrace really.

@sungam You should have known better storing your precious documents on a website like megaupload.
That's like letting your brother with the gambling problem manage your stock portfolio.

Most likely the case that the kiwis were sucking up the arse of the US investigators and got carried away trying to show off with all the technology.
Still , too may lies around this case and a complete case of overkill on the raid.

@para782 Agree with you there buddy. But at the moment NZ law is protecting Kim Dotcom. There's a good chance he'll walk away from this, maybe a few dollars lighter than before.

Whether they legally bugged him or not is irrelevant.
His website still enabled millions to download copywritten content for free or a small monthly fee.
He wanted to be sneaky so will the government of the people you are robbing,
