I agree with some of the rebukes, but noone has mentioned any of the John Rambo missions.

Ripped straight from youtube but yeah, the most amazing special forces operations are the one's you don't hear about.
The title should be amazing/fail as well, the one where the Russian special forces stormed the theatre and over 100 died is more fail then anything else.

@LostSomewhereInSpace . exactly. Neither operation Oak in which the italian deposed leader was freed by german commandoes in 1943. A daring operation indeed.

No no no. You forgot to mention 2 of the most amazing rescue operations of all time. 1- Rescue of mussolini the disgraced italian leader . Mussolini was imprisoned by italian government and was rescued by german commandos in 1943 . Another operation : Entebe . Israeli plane passengers had been abducted in the airport of entebe in Uganda 2500 miles from Israel in 1976 . Israel rescued the 102 passengers .

I guarantee that list was made by an Englishman and I'm from England .by far the most high profile special forces mission was the killing of Osama bin laden .it will be remembered in history by far more people than the Iranian hostage rescue that may people outside the uk have never even heard of.added to that the sas mission was in the uk where they had time to prep and come up with a plan ..not saying it wasn't great but British people seem to think only the sas can do anything when in Acctual More..

Best operations are the ones no civilians heard of.

@USA1 yep this Mongolian SRR unit did an impressive job in 1993 on the "Free Willy operation", oops!.
And about the SAS (an unit i really like btw), what about the fail on a french submarine (i do not remember when exactly maybe 10 years ago)... and at the same time we have the rainbow warrior fail too (and some others).
But well sometime, who dares loses.

I'm sorry but the bin laden raid should be like number 1 or 2 with Entebbe being the other, which wasn't even listed.

Operation Nimrod? Obviously the vid maker is a Brit homer. Any large US city SWAT team could have pulled that off.

@USA1
A SWAT team liberating the Iranian embassy in the US? Come on... And it would need to be the embassy of Pakistan to start with.

@USA1 It occurred before the US had reformed it's own MILITARY counter-terrorist units, never mind police. Their complete failure and the SAS's complete success showed who had done their homework and who lagged behind considerably.
No need to be bitter about the facts.

@USA1 These days, thanks to the likes of the SAS, CO-19, the police unit Los Angeles SWAT is modelled on, could possibly carry out an operation of almost the same scope.

@mcgeemcgoo
And in Operation Jaque the FARC were indeed infiltrated by the military to gather intelligence, but the real cheat that tricked the guerrillas into allowing the hostages to board the helicopter was to disguise the soldiers as members of the International Red Cross, a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions and thus an obvious war crime. No wonder that this is not mentioned in this video...

@bigcats So was Mogadishu and the Iranian fiasco but the maker of this is trying to make out that American special forces suck along with russians

@mcgeemcgoo you see ,criticizing ...much of the heavy lift of uk troops is done by American forces in Afghanistan daily .as for spec ops missions where helicopters crash .these things happen and in the bin laden mission they didn't miss a beat and continued .most of the missions take place daily and you never here of them .as I said there is no way the storming of the Iranian embassy is as high profile as killing the most famous terrorist ever right next to an army base

Brits may have the best trained special force,but the americans have the funding and the tech to beat any special force in the world.
When the Brits match 600 billion a year on military funding then they might have the edge over them with training...but the way England is going...i cant see that ever happening.

Silly selection. There were many more-impressive rescues, such as during WWII. Historical perspective is lacking.
