Delirium Tremens is a beer I have wanted to try for years but until recently, never had the opportunity.

This beer has a very distinctive "yeasty" aroma and a tart, crisp flavor that has hints of cherries and green apples. Sharp, crisp bubbles with a dry, champagne-like mouth feel. An excellent sipping beer and well worth placing on your beer "bucket list". Certainly worthy of a spot as "one of the 50 best beers in the world".

Huyghe Brewery (Brouwerij Huyghe) was founded in 1906 in Belgium by Leon Huyghe in city of Melle in East Flanders. The site of the brewery has been in operation since 1654. However, the brewery has been modernized and expanded on several occasions since the founding of Huyghe. The brewery's most well known beer is Delirium Tremens (8.5% alcohol), a blonde, Belgian-style trippel.
Delirium Tremens was launched on 26 December 1989. The beer uses three different yeasts and is packaged in a bottle that is painted to resemble cologne ceramics. Delirium Tremens was named "Best Beer in the World" in 2008 at the World Beer Championships in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Stuart Kallen gives it the number one spot in his The 50 Greatest Beers in the World.
