(Vatican) Excerpt from the Popes speech of August 5th, 2012 regarding Bavaria, Germany 
Benedict XVI attended a performance of Bavarian songs, dance, and music
organized by the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising as part of a
Bavarian afternoon held yesterday at Castel Gandolfo. It demonstrated
the joy typical to the Bavarian culture, the Pope said, and he thanked
archbishop of Munich and Freising Cardinal Marx who organized the
Bavarian hour.

"We have been able to perceive that Bavarian culture is a cheerful one. It is imbued with joy, born
from an inner acceptance of the world, from an inner yes to life that
is a yes to joy."
The Pope explained, this joy is based on the fact that
we are in harmony with the Creation and with the Creator himself.

Isn't that cute? The Pope talking about evil in the world. How about the evil that the Catholic church perpetrates by undermining contraception and spreading AIDS? Or how about the fact that they protect child molesters at an institutional level? Or how about the fact that a recent Vatican whistle blower explained that their financial records show serious signs of money laundering and fraud? I think this is what we would call 'irony.'
