War Crimes Trial Begins For Croatian Ex-Army Chief.
Former Croatian general Ante Gotovina is due to go on trial at the UN War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague today. The 52-year-old, once leader of the Croatian Army, is accused of allowing the murder and mistreatment of Serb civilians during the 1995 Krajina campaign.
Gotovina and two other generals face a number of war crimes charges. All three deny any responsibility.
