Republicans getting behind Mitt Romney

The Republican establishment is increasingly lining up behind Mitt Romney in the race to choose a candidate to challenge President Barack Obama, finally giving clarity to a long and grinding nominating contest that has exposed deep divisions within the party.

Mr Romney notched a convincing victory in the heartland state of Illinois, quickly followed by a surprise endorsement from former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, the brother of former President George W Bush.

There were also signs that major Republican campaign contributors are shifting more money in his direction.

    • @lonewolf6972 Look at what the alternatives are. I don't know why Huntsman dropped out. All he had to do was hang in there until the Republicans had their "oh shit how the fuck are we gonna beat obama" moment.

  • Wow, Republicans, Mitt Romney: after all that rhetoric about conservatism, stop Obamacare, small government and Tea party; way to go for the moderate establishment candidate. Way to invoke change. I shall look forward to Romney trying to debate Obama, that should be hilarious. Positions they completely agree on but Romney lying about his position on it.

For the last 4 years, we have heard Tea Party rhetoric, Glenn Beck nonsense, Rush Limbaugh's putrid rants and now more than ever it was ju More..

    • @mabutoo

It's funny that you should bring up the constitution when your boy, Obama, RE-SIGNED the Patriot Act AND signed the NDAA on News Years Eve while no one was watching.

The NDAA designates the U.S. as a front on the war on terror and allows for domestic investigations to be undertaken by the military. It also allows the President, DOJ or military to indefinitely detain ANY American citizen without allowing them a lawyer, or even charging them with a crime. It nullifies your 4th amendmen More..
