  • I actually like how they upgrade these classics and retrofit/resto mod to "Pro Touring" quality.Hardly anything left on this car is original factory but that's fine by me. I'm just into this matching number and drive like a sled muscle car that's going to be used as a daily driver.Matching numbers is for show cars and Concours D'Elegance."All show and no go+ as we used to say. I'd rather have something like this car with a 12 bolt rear that can handle that engine torque, disc brake More..

    • @Fire37Rescue sacrilege! I prefer as close to original as possible. It makes me want to kick a puppy when I see someone do this to a classic. I'd trade for a 1969 Chevelle, and it wouldn't have to be an SS. Give me points and condensor and Carb over electronic and EFI any day. <-----(some people refuse to change) :)

I hear ya but come on! Sure, but if I was going to build a streetcar and driver, I'm sure not going to to be a numbers matching nerd and waste all that money on an original air filter and brakes that couldn't stop a go cart. I have driven and raced these bad boys and let me tell you...some of them were scary as hell to drive, lol.
Even back in the day, no street racer ran a muscle car production stock. Every one of them had after market parts and goodies all over the place. That being s More..

    • @Fire37Rescue Same here on these new "cars". I've owned 3 1969 Chevelles. 1 was a 350hp SS396 with auto and horse shoe console, 1 a 350 with a 350auto, and the last a simple 307 with a powerglide. even had a 65 malibu with powerglide and original 283. Remember the oil in the breather? the only one that wasn't bone stock and all original was the SS, because the original owner threw a rod coming up I35 out of Dallas.

I virtually gave all of them away years ago, and looking back I want t More..

One of my alltime favorite cars those Chevelles.Any year but with that Steroid Abuse looking 1970 SS 454 being my most favorite I think...God those things were MONSTERS.
I'm jealous as I never owned one. They were highly sought after and expensive as hell even back during my day. Keep in mind I started in '75 so that model year was still pretty new. So many Chevelles and Malibus in my car memories and dreams.
I saw one the other day in a parking lot (near Whiting Field),It had that G More..

My buddy had one of the fastest street machines back in the day. It was a Pontiac GTO with a 455 HO Ram Air Marine 5 Port engine in it.That thing was a beast. It had a name,as many fast street cars did back then...The Boatyard Beast.

I street/bracket raced a '56 210 Coupe for a decade in SoCal back in the day. Had it set up as B/Gas.I got tired of blowing up those old Chevy Pumpkin Rear ends and went with a Narrowed Dana rear. When I first built it I was 15-16, took out the 283 and put a 65 Vette 327/365hp FI in it.Put 4.88's in the rear and kept the Powerglide.Had a Muncie Rock Crusher for a time until I went with a B&M built Turbo 400..I could wheelstand that thing with Hoosiers.I had it tubbed with a straigh More..

  • Mopar or no car

  • Okay, if you do actually come across someone with one of these classic muscle cars and it has those stupid ass low profile tires on it, punch the driver in the face. Those tires belong on something other than a classic. That car deserves something like a set of Keystones, not some knockoff American Racing 5 spokes, REAL Keystones.

    • @Amusing

Actually theres a company that re-does classic cars with modern racing technology. From suspension, brakes, balance, and traction. They add low profile tires to the car and they can actually perform quite well on tracks.

Despite looking kinda douchebagged. Low profile tires perform a purpose and while turning suffer less compression and increase traction.

And all that goes out the window when you put them under a chevelle.
The wheels and tires are lame.

  • Beautiful car, nice upgrades. Personally I would have went with slightly taller profile tires & Cragar SS wheels, or even factory rally lookalikes, public streets you don't need 1 g plus cornering ability. 5 or 6 speed stick to top it off set behind a 396 or 454 small block :@)

  • Got to drive a convertible version of this car. Damn car had so much torque you could feel the body trying to twist. Guy who owned it, took to a shop and was having the body and frame strengthen when it was stolen. Never to be seen again.

  • thats one beautiful piece of machinery

    Posted Jul-14-2012 By

  • Quite a beauty for sure.

With the fact that the owner clearly upgraded technology, such as the gauges and engine, that lowly heater looks very lonely.

    $37K. Certainly a greedy market.
