For those that don't know what bait car is, it's a program where cops leave a car "available" for would-be car thieves..cameras record the "theft" and cops move in to bust the suspect..well in this case..............
Officers moved in and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective Anthony Shapiro made the arrest.
“You know your rights, right? You know all that stuff?” Sharpiro could be heard asking Alex in TruTV footage. “You watch TV; you know your rights.So, I’m going to ask you some questions if that’s OK.”
But it wasn’t OK. While the cameras later caught Shapiro assuring his
fellow officers that he had read the suspect his Miranda rights, the
cameras never caught him actually doing that.
Once the case went to court, Sharpiro testified that he “read it from a card in my wallet -- in my notebook.”
Det. Shaprio has been suspended with pay while the incident concerning Alex’s arrest is under investigation.
I dunno..I thought reading miranda rights was part of Police 101..IDIIOT..now a criminal is free

That is a good thing.
The police in America are powerful enough already.
They do not need more power at the expense of the individual.
I mean, this is already close to entrapment.
Just do your job and bust the criminals.

I could be wrong, but they are allowed to wait until they have a witness to read you your miranda rights? Can they take you to jail then read you them? Or is it always going to be he said she said about not having them read?
