This was on display a Fry's Electronics, It has a 1 liter 71 Hp motorcycle engine. Yes it is a death trap mobile in my opinion. This is probably the future for us, unless you are a millionaire or politician. It will beat driving scooter like in Vietnam and the likes.

Those are actually supposed to be pretty safe, developed by M-Benz.

I'd only drive something that small if it were a city-wide ordnance that all autos had a max 1,500 lb cap. That would make sense, in proportion.
Otherwise, very soon 3,000 lb class plug-in, next-gen hybrids will be a very valid transition vehicle for those concerned about national security, health of public/fisheries, etc and keeping within budget.

a death trap`?
lol, it appears you are stuck in the last century. No suprise your market is still ruled by the old opinion scheme that has led your car companies to loose its share in the international market.
Smart is a Mercedes owned company and this car is more than just save. It's secure construction has made it win prices all over the world. The size of a body has nothing to say about the potential of absorbing cinetic energy, it is the shape and the composition of materials. I rather sit in this smart than in a lot of larger cars.
Watch this and I hope you are able to change your opinion even if it may not please you:

Anyhow, this car is used in europe for quite a while now and was therefore already involved in many realy life accidents. The results for the passengers have mostly been highly positive.

Its saver then most american cars. The car is practicly indestructable. Except for the body works, thats made of cheap-ass plastic.

Cool!... Do they make and SUV with room for eight and drop down DVD players?

I've ridden in them while in Europe. hey are very safe as they have a steel cage that they are built around. The mileage isn't as high as you would expect with a 3 cylinder engine. Mostly it's just good for parking in crowded urban areas.

Yes there is a smart '4 four' four seat version.
