officer punched a boy in the face and put a gun to his head

A Prince George’s County police officer charged earlier this year with assaulting a 13-year-old
during a chase is now facing a $5 million lawsuit from the teen’s
family, which claims the officer punched the boy in the face and put a
gun to his head before letting him go uncharged.Cpl. Rickie Adey, a 10-year veteran of the force, was charged in July
with assault and misconduct in office for an August 2011 incident in
which he was accused of attacking the teen. Police had said previously
that Adey pursued the teen while responding to a report of gunfire in
the 6900 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights, and at some
point, assaulted him.The lawsuit, filed in Prince George’s County Circuit Court
by the teen’s mother, seeks $5 million in damages from Adey and the
Prince George’s County government, said Jimmy Bell, the mother’s lawyer.
The suit claims that Adey pulled the teen down from a fence that he was
trying to climb, then punched him two or three times in the face, Bell
said.At some point the teenager’s fingers inadvertently brushed Adey’s
gun, according to the lawsuit. After that, the lawsuit claims, Adey put
the weapon to the teen’s head and said, “Have you ever had a hammer to
your head,” Bell said. The lawsuit claims Adey let the teenager go, without charging him or
offering him medical attention for a bloody nose, after a female officer
arrived on the scene, Bell said. The Washington Post does not generally identify crime victims.Assistant Prince George’s Police Chief Kevin Davis said Adey has been
assigned to paid administrative duties while the legal process is
ongoing. He referred a reporter seeking comment on the new details in
the suit to a police blog post containing video of Police Chief Mark Magaw commenting on Adey’s indictment.Adey's attorney did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment Wednesday morning.
