Best thing Obama could have done after that shooting was to NOT make a official statement / press conference whatsoever just send his condolences to the affected community.
By addressing it and giving it so much attention and even showing strong emotions like that, he just motivates potential future nutjobs to do similar atrocities.

Best thing Obama could have done after that shooting would have been to push forward the legalization of hand grenades.
Hand grenades were once legal, and since these have been banned crime rates have gone up. Owning them is a natural right that every human being has since birth.
