Police open fire on unarmed protesters and one brave woman steps out, arms raised, into the line of fire. The police caught by surprise stop firing, she could be like one of their mothers and they didn't have it in them to kill her! As she approaches the police, demonstrators behind her chant "peaceful, peaceful".


The police in this video are Central Security which remains loyal to the president's nephew. However, many units of the Central Security have defected and joined the army's First Armoured Division against the president.

This is in the city of Taiz, now mainly held by rebel forces after the government burned down the unarmed anti-government camp. The protest camp has been reestablished with protection by tribal rebels although there is daily shelling and fighting in the city.
