Looks like the rifle fired fine, however, the fire started on the table. So most likely these idiots left the gun powder open and when the rifle fired a spark lit up the gun powder.

It appears some sparks from either too much priming charge or the propellant itself fell into a whole batch of black powder and ignited. Dumbass should not leave gunpowder unprotected and especially not under the gun.

Black powder burns are extra painful because of the glowing hot molten salt (Potassium Nitride), which is left as a remainder of a black powder reaction. So it is not only the flame burning your skin, but little droplets of molten salt as well. A black powder burn on my finger from New Year's Eve needed two month to heal and left a bad scar.
