Should have stunned it first that would have been the humane thing. I think a nice blow to the head before submersion would work. The trick is you can't kill it first it still has to be alive but stunning it first would have been more humane for sure. I bet it tasted great though.

Fresh seafood, nothing really that weird about this. I would probably have stunned it before putting it in the soup but I guess it tastes better with the entrails and things in it. I'd eat it

I'm in Shanghai and about an hour ago I had catfish for dinner cooked the exact same way. Picked it from an aquarium at the restaurant.
Was delicious.

I can imagine the stench! Only tried octopus once in Dubai and it was disgusting and chewy like a pieceof rubber. Will never eat it again and those Asians are sick little F****s
