  • Just imagine all the bitching a whining going on by the people on that boat, enough to fill your ears with the shit sliding down the walls.

    • @maplestaple

Same here. I was on a cruise once and the sewage system blocked up in one area only. And that was bad enough, it was a shocker. Didn't find my way back to that area for 4 days.

  • Oh, how gross, they should just sink that ship and turn it into an artificial reef for fish, they are not going to clean that thing well enough for people like me to ever go on. Write it off on their corporate taxes, that ship is dead now.

  • just hard to believe that with all the modern technology there is still no way to have proper backup systems on a large ship like that. a lot easier to believe that the greedy fuckers just cut corners trying to make more $$$.

  • How is that any different from any other cruise filled with thousands of people? I bet if you took a blacklight almost everything would show up as being covered in "sewage" and other fluids.

  • I don't understand why they couldn't unload the passengers as soon as the ship became crippled. Couldn't they put people in life rafts and have rescue ships nearby picking them up, or even better a helipad on board (not sure if this ship has one). Seems like torture making them stay on a dead ship.

  • Before this I was trying to talk my wife into going on a cruise since we have never been. She has been saying no for years. After seeing this, I think I will just shut up on the matter. I don't understand why they had to keep the passengers on the ship for 5 days without power and how that could possibly safer.

I suspect next week some of the passengers will get terribly sick from being exposed to such unsanitary conditions for so long.

    • @mabutoo In the movies, yes. In real life, no, because it's not their job to be the backup plan for cruise companies who are too damn cheap to maintain their own backup systems. That's the big, ugly secret of Western civilization. Governments and their associated news and entertainment industry spew propaganda to make people believe that the government has their back. No such thing is true. The government now is nothing but a parasite, feeding off of everyone else and then leaving people sc More..

    • @TheMule I don't believe in such a pessimistic view of government. A well-run government can promote peace and prosperity. Our government was instrumental in getting us out of the Great Depression. Also, Hurricane Sandy and Katrina where intentionally mismanaged. What about the floods of West Virginia and tornadoes of the midwest in which the Government provided aid and rescue efforts. Do you realize that most of the Fortune 500 companies got to their status on the backs of government contr More..

    • @mabutoo The government didn't get us out of the Depression. It perpetuated it. The government has got us into multiple unnecessary wars that benefit a few at the top who own people in the government. Occasionally, government can provide aid, but such aid can be brought by any well organized effort. And the fact that the government is picking winners and losers in business is exactly why our economy and technology innovation is stagnating.

    • @TheMule It did at first with austerity cuts, but I was referring the jobs programs it created which did in fact get our economy going.

You are right about the wars, but it wasn't just the war itself but the hiring of contractors at triple wage to do soldier's work which made it more expensive than need be.

There is no private organization in the world that could handle a disaster on the scale of a Hurricane. Historically, we send in the National Guard to handle the immediate needs and More..

  • Haven't these assholes at Carnival ever heard of backup systems?... Oh... Let me guess... Some executive pyschopath cocksucker decided he could save a little money by not fixing a known problem on this ship and ordered it to leave port on the backup system, which failed. Now, instead of saving money, they're about to lose 100s of millions due to law suits and lost business due to a damaged brand. And the executive psychopath cocksucker who caused it all will get a million dollar bonus. Welcom More..
